Silver Lake Youth Football (SLYF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a positive, structured, and competitive youth football experience for players in grades 1 through 8.

We proudly serve families from Kingston, Halifax, and Plympton and are a member of the Old Colony Youth Football League (OCYFL), which includes more than 20 youth football programs across Southeastern Massachusetts.

Our mission is to teach the fundamentals of football while also building confidence, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship—on and off the field. We believe youth sports should be both challenging and fun, helping athletes grow as players and as individuals.

SEASON OVERVIEW

The season typically begins in mid-August with team training and practices. Games run through the fall season, with playoffs extending into November.

During the early season in August, teams may practice up to five days per week. Once the school year begins, practices are generally held Tuesday through Thursday, with games on weekends.

SLYF is a volunteer run organization. Every coach, board member, and game day helper gives their time to make the season possible. It truly takes a strong community of families working together to support our athletes, from running practices and hosting game days to helping with equipment and keeping everything running smoothly.

To help make that possible, each player’s family is asked to complete a minimum of three volunteer opportunities during the season. These hours can be completed by any parent or guardian and can be chosen based on what works best for your schedule. Every role, big or small, plays an important part in creating a safe, organized, and fun experience for all of our players.
